Nicaragua’s historic first ever test match sees the country move for the first time in the Americas Rankings. The 57-19 loss to Guatemala means that Nicaragua is now 37th in the Americas. Guatemala improves from 31.68 to 32.93 points. to rise above St. Lucia.
Costa Rica’s 91-5 win over Panama sees the home side improve from 30.70 points to 31.69. This sees the gap significantly closed between Costa Rica in 23rd and St. Lucia in 22nd. For Panama the defeat sees Los Diablos dropping from 30.29 to 29.30 points. In positional terms Panama falls heavily from 25th to 35th in the Americas.
Argentina’s home defeat in the Rugby Championship was by 15+ points. As such South Africa gained the maximum and Argentina lost out. The updated rankings see Argentina on 78.00 points in 11th in the world. Fiji are on 79.48 in 10th spot in the world. Argentina remains in top spot of the Americas Rankings.
Additional changes are possible on Wednesday. Round two of the South American C Championship will see Costa Rica and Guatemala both chasing back-to-back victories. Should either fail to win then there will be significant consequences in the rankings.
