Arregui Added To Cover For Tetaz Chaparro

Felipe Arregui has been added to the Pumas roster. The 23-year-old prop joins Daniel Hourcade’s squad as cover for Nahuel Tetaz Chaparro. Having started in Port Elizabeth, Tetaz Chaparro was forced off in the second half with a concussion.

Arregui, like Tetaz Chaparro, is capable of playing on both sides of the front-row. This sees Hourcade having three options for both Loose Head and Tight Head. Lucas Noguera Paz replaced Tetaz Chaparro at Loose Head on Saturday. The starting Tight Head was Enrique Pieretto who was substituted for Ramiro Herrera. Left out was Santiago García Botta.

The 113kg Arregui is uncapped. He has, nonetheless, been close to selection in the past. Last November he trained with Los Pumas in Scotland. At the time he was playing for Edinburgh in the Guinness Pro 12. He returned to Argentina in early 2017 to join Los Jaguares.

The inclusion of Arregui means there are four changes to the roster from that which traveled to South Africa. Utility back, Santiago González Iglesias and No 8’s Benjamín Macome and Juan Manuel Leguizamón were added to the roster on Monday. Missing are Tetaz Chaparro and Leonardo Senatore. Both are undergoing recovery in Buenos Aires.

Los Pumas depart Buenos Aires today to travel to Salta. The Northern Argentine city will play host to the Rugby Championship match against South Africa on Saturday.
