Canada change four for Wales rematch

Canada will begin a new quest in Belfast when they face Wales for the second time in the Women’s Rugby World Cup on Tuesday. After being squeezed out of the Semi Finals by a rampant New Zealand side, it’s into the second tier of the knockouts that Canada go with 5th place their now best possible result.

Four changes have been made from the team that started against the Black Ferns, one enforced. Olivia DeMerchant and Cindy Nelles get their first run-outs of the competition at tighthead prop and second row respectively. Brittany Waters comes into the midfield, and Frédérique Rajotte starts in place of the injured Magali Harvey on the wing. Elissa Alarie and Julianne Zussman trade places once again with Alarie shifting to the right wing and Zussman at fullback.

After a brilliant start to the campaign against Hong Kong the team hit a snag against Wales, winning 15-0 but failing to secure a four-try bonus point. As it turned out the points didn’t matter as New Zealand proved in vintage form while the USA managed to score four times against England.

Kickoff at Queen’s University is at 5pm local time, noon Eastern, 9am Pacific. The match will be broadcast live by TSN with a live stream also provided by World Rugby.
