Three Countries Present RWC 2023 Bids in Medellín

France, Ireland and South Africa all had officials presenting their bids for Rugby World Cup 2023 in Medellín, Colombia. They did so at a meeting with the Executive Committee of Sudamérica Rugby on Monday and Tuesday at the Hotel Tryp.

The first country to present was Ireland. On Monday August 14 at 3pm with the involvement of Philip Browne, CEO of the IRFU, and Kevin Potts, Ireland 2023 Director. Also present were Pat Whelan and John O’Driscoll, members of the organizing committee.

The second to present was France. The FFR’s bid was presented on Tuesday August 15 at 9am. Representing the FFR were President Bernard Laporte and France 2023 DirectorClaude Atcher.

South Africa’s bid was the final one presented. SA Rugby did so at 11am on Tuesday August 15. Making the presentation was Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby.

The executive committee of Sudamérica Rugby watched the three respective presentations. Those in attendance were President Marcelo Rodríguez (Argentina), First Vice President Marcello Calandra (Uruguay), Second Vice President Salvador Encinas (Chile), Secretary Víctor Luaces (Argentina) and Treasurer Ariel Mammana (Argentina).
