Junior World Championship to be played in Argentina in 2019

The World Rugby Junior World Championship is to be played in Argentina in 2019, the UAR has confirmed. It follows months of rumors that Argentina would host the 2018 tournament, doing so in Santa Fé and Entre Rios.

The UAR’s official press release quoted UAR President Carlos Araujo:

“In agreement and fully aligned with World Rugby, the Unión Argentina de Rugby (UAR) would like to inform that due to questions of timing and logistics, the 2018 World Rugby u20’s Championship will not take place in our country, and will instead do so in 2019.”

“After considering the options in relation to the times and to facilitate the completion of the planned infrastructure, and therefore, as is the spirit of the UAR to seek to deliver the best possible tournament, that would be memorable and not merely for the sake of it, we prefer to handle things calmly and seriously to give the event the merit it deserves”
