The South African roster has been named for the Rugby Championship. Head Coach Allister Coetzee has selected a 34-man squad for the Southern Hemisphere’s premier test match competition.
The Springboks are to begin their preparations in Port Elizabeth on Tuesday. This will give them eleven days together before opening their campaign against Argentina on August 19.
Included are uncapped players Curwin Bosch, Dan du Preez and Warrick Gelant. Other changes in personnel from the June Internationals see veteran prop Trevor Nyakane, flanker Uzair Cassiem and flyhalf Handré Pollard in the fold.
Missing is No 8 and captain Warren Whiteley. A groin injury has him unavailable for a further six weeks. There are additional concerns over Loose Head Prop Tendai Mtawarira. The Sharks front-rower has been sidelined since suffering a neck injury in June. Mtawarira is in the squad but in doubt to face Los Pumas.
