Australia Change Captain Ahead of Rugby Championship

Australia has a new skipper. Ahead pf the Rugby Championship Waratahs flanker and captain Michael Hooper has been confirmed as the new national leader. The 25-year-old replaces Stephen Moore with the veteran hooker to retire later this year.

It is not an entirely new role for Hooper. He has prior experience captaining his country, doing so on 15 prior occasions. This out of a total of 65 test caps earned to date.

Michael Cheika’s side will play in the upcoming Rugby Championship. Australia will play twice against Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa. The matches against Argentina are to be played in Canberra and Mendoza.
