Puma Joins Spanish Champions

With the new 2017-2018 season just around the corner clubs across Europe continue with their recruitment. In Spanish the 2017 champions, Valladolid Rugby Asociación Club (VRAC) Quesos Entrepinares has added a former Puma. Tomás Carrió joins the Spanish champions from Italy.

Aged 28, Carrió is a former PladAR player. Capable of playing fly half, wing or fullback, the utility back made six appearances in capped matches for Argentina. These matches took place in 2013, 2014 and 2015. His final test was against Paraguay in Asunción in May 2015.

In joining Valladolid, Carrió is to play in the División de Honor, Spain’s premier division. It marks a move from Italy after he played several months for Rangers Rugby Vicenza in Italy’s second division, the Serie A.

Before playing in Italy Carrió had been a fringe option for Los Jaguares. Having missed out on a contract he completed the move to Europe.  While playing in Argentina he was based in both his native Chaco and in Rosario. He played for the Duendes club in the latter from 2008-2015.

Success at Duendes led to Carrió earning the call-up to the Argentina XV, Pampas XV and Los Pumas. His move to Spain comes with the intention of extending his professional career abroad for more than one season.
