This weekend there was one capped get match involving teams from the Americas. That fixture was the Rugby World Cup Qualifier between the USA and Canada. The Eagles won the match well at home. The result is a rise for the USA and a fall for Canada.
The updated rankings see the USA increasing from 65.71 to 65.84 points. Canada, meanwhile, falls from 59.47 to 59.21 points. Neither country has risen or fallen in the Americas Rankings. As such the USA remains second and Canada fourth.
Sitting in between the North Americans is Uruguay. Los Teros are third in the Americas on 63.15 points. In the World Rankings this translates into 18th spot. Canada are 23rd and face a tough task of rising. Their November 2017 internationals will require vast improvement.
With the USA having qualified for Rugby World Cup 2019 as Americas 1 there is one remaining regional spot. The Americas 2 spot will go to either Canada or Uruguay. The lower ranked of the two will host the first fixture Americas Final qualifying fixture on January 27 2018. The return fixture will be at the higher ranked location on February 03 2018. The winner, on aggregate, will qualify for Japan 2019.
