Tomás Lezana is out of action. The Pumas flanker fell awkwardly in a tackle from his opposite, Vito Kolelishvili, and was stretchered off in the opening half of Saturday’s test match against Georgia in Jujuy. Pablo Matera entered from the bench in his place in just the 16th minute.
Team medic Guillermo Botto has classified the injury as being trauma to the right ankle. Lezana is now to require up to three weeks recovery before returning to the field. This rules the 23-year-old out of upcoming Super Rugby matches. The Jaguares face the Kings on Friday and then play in Australia against the Waratahs and Melbourne Rebels.
With Los Jaguares already out of the play-off’s picture for Super Rugby, an understrength lineup is likely for remaining matches. This will enable the leading players maximum recovery to enable them to be at 100% for the start of the Rugby Championship.
