Lavanini Ruled Out of Facing Georgia

Tomás Lavanini has been ruled out of facing Georgia. The Pumas second-rower suffered an eye injury, specifically to the retina in his right eye. The team medic has confirmed the 24-year-old has departed Jujuy to return to Buenos Aires.

Lavanini started in both San Juan and Santa Fé against England. He partnered Matías Alemanno in the second-row on both occasions. Guido Petti was the specialist replacement and is now in line to take Lavanini’s position in the team.

The trio are the only designated second-rowers on Daniel Hourcade’s current roster. Marcos Kremer was not involved to instead play in the Junior World Championship. The next in line, Ignacio Larrague, played for the Argentina XV in the Nations Cup past week.

No player has yet been added to the roster by Hourcade. One year ago Hourcade faced a similar dilemma against France. He acted by playing Javier Ortega Desio out of position. Ortega Desio started at flanker in both games against England.
