The hits keep on coming from Houston, who have added two more forwards to their emerging roster in recent days. Former US Eagles flanker Kyle Sumsion is the latest to put pen to paper and agree to join the Strikers for the 2018 Major League Rugby season.
It’s a return to the professional ranks for the 27-year-old after playing a major role with the Sacramento Express in 2016, captaining the PRO Rugby side in a handful of matches at the end of the season. Sumsion won five Eagles caps as a replacement in 2014 while studying at Brigham Young University.
Also recruited by the Strikers is imposing 1.98m (6’6″) Lone Star second row Jackson Slater. The 24-year-old Houston area resident makes it an even 10 players signed up so far by the Strikers, joining front row forwards Jake Turnbull, Lindsey Stevens, Adam Macklin, and Jack Riley, with second row Charlie Hewitt, eightman Matt Trouville, scrumhalf Connor Murphy, and flyhalf Sam Windsor also on the books for the inaugural season.
