Americas Rankings – June 04 2017

Test match rugby this weekend saw changes in the Americas Rankings. Gains were made by the Bahamas and the Cayman Islands, respective winners in their test matches.

The Bahamas recovered from losing to the Turks & Caicos Islands to defeat the Dominican Republic on Saturday. The 42-5 away victory sees the Bahamas picking up maximum rankings points. Going into the match the Dominican Republic had 30.86 points and the Bahamas 32.29.

The updated rankings see the Dominican Republic slipping to 29.12 points while the Bahamas rise to 34.03.  In terms of placings this sees the Dominican Republic falling from 23rd to 37th in the Americas Rankings. The Bahamas rise to 18th spot.

Also this weekend Bermuda had home advantage against the Cayman Islands. Bermuda went into the match with 38.23 points while the Caymans were on 42.88 points. The Cayman Islands won 28-15 to pull further ahead of Venezuela. No overall gain was made and nor did Bermuda fall.

In South America Chile fell 31-15 to the Argentina XV. With it not being Los Pumas rankings were not on the line.

Test match rugby will take place again next weekend. In North America Canada play host to Georgia and the USA take-on Ireland. The one Rugby Americas North fixture will see Guyana at home to Trinidad & Tobago. Argentina take-on England in San Juan, Brazil host Portugal in São Paulo while Uruguay and the Argentina XV have non-capped matches in the Nations Cup.
