Berchesi signs for Dax

Uruguayan star Felipe Berchesi is on the move. The World Cup flyhalf is leaving Carcassonne and has signed a two-year contract with Dax, with an option for a third year. Berchesi will be replacing another South American goal kicker on the roster with Argentine international Ignacio Mieres moving to newly-promoted Top 14 club Agen next season.

Dax will be Berchesi’s third club in France, having joined Chambéry for the 2014-15 Fédérale 1 season before moving up to the Pro D2 with Carcassonne in 2015. For both clubs he has been a regular starter either at his preferred position of flyhalf or alternatively as an outside centre. He has also been a primary goal kicker, amassing 370 points in 51 games across both divisions. Berchesi has most recently been spotted guiding Los Teros past Chile to secure their spot in the Americas 2 World Cup qualifiers to take place in 2018.
