Test match rugby this weekend saw changes in the Americas Rankings. Gains were made by Brazil and Uruguay, the respective winners of their South American ‘A’ fixtures. There were, however, no positional rises or falls in the Americas Rankings.
Brazil’s record-setting win over Paraguay has given Os Tupis a 0.48 gain in the rankings. Paraguay has lost the same amount. This sees Brazil now sitting on 53.28 points and Paraguay on 48.54 points. The countries remain ranked 6th and 7th respectively in the Americas.
Paraguay’s 0-3 South American ‘A’ Championship campaign means that the gap between 7th and 8th is increasingly low. Should Colombia win matches in the South American ‘B’ Championship then Los Tucanes can rise.
Test matches played this weekend around the world have impacted Canada’s world ranking. Kenya lost at home to Germany on Saturday. The result means Germany is now ranked higher than Canada. Chile also benefitted from Hong Kong vs South Korea, rising one place from 29th to 28th in the world.
Chile lost away to Uruguay on Saturday. It resulted in Uruguay gaining 0.06 points and Chile losing the same amount. The updated Americas Rankings sees Uruguay edging slightly further above Canada and towards the USA.
Mexico’s impressive win over the USA South Panthers on Saturday sees no alterations. With the USA South Panthers not being an official test side no rankings points were on the line.
Test match rugby will take place again next weekend. A non-capped fixture will see Chile at home to the Argentina XV. Americas Rankings will not be up for grabs. In the Caribbean there are to be two fully capped internationals. The Dominican Republic and Bermuda are to have home advantage against the Bahamas and Cayman Islands respectively.
