Americas Weekend Guide: Guinness Pro 12 Final

The Guinness Pro 12 Final will be played on Saturday. The teams to be competing for Celtic-Italian League glory come from Ireland and Wales. Both competitors, Munster and Scarlets, have been home ton players from the Americas over the years but just one player will feature in the 2017 final.

The one and only player is to be DTH van der Merwe. The veteran of 42 tests will also be playing for Scarlets for the final time. But before moving to England to join the Newcastle Falcons the Canadian has an opportunity to complete a double – winning the Pro 12 title with two teams from different unions.

van der Merwe played for the Glasgow Warriors from 2009-2015. His final appearance for the Scottish side was the 2015 Guinness Pro 12 Final. On that occasion he scored a try in the 31-13 win over Munster in Belfast.
