Matías Osadczuk is HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series Rookie of the Year. The Los Pumas 7’s player was today awarded with the prestigious prize of being the best newcomer in the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series.
Osadczuk was one of three finalists for the award. He joined New Zealand’s Vilimoni Koroi and Fiji’s Kalione Nasoko. All three finalists have had tremendous impacts in their inaugural season of playing Rugby Sevens at the elite level.
In March Osadczuk was named in the Vancouver Dream Team for his excellence in the Canada 7’s. Unfortunately injury at the Hong Kong 7’s ended his season early. Prior to the knee injury Osadczuk had scored 26 tries in his rookie season.
His torn cruciate ligament injury required surgery. It means he will miss out on the World Rugby Junior World Championship.
His position at senior level remains open to debate. He plays center for his club, SITAS.
