Brazil Confirm June Internationals

Brazil has confirmed a three-match series of June Internationals. The Tupis will play twice at home and once on the road in what is unprecedented for the South American country.

First up for Os Tupis will be a home match against Portugal. It is to be the second time that Os Lobos will  play a test match in Brazil and the third time overall. The fixture will take place on June 10. The match venue is yet to be confirmed.

Seven days later Brazil will play host to Chile. Having already faced Los Cóndores in the Americas Rugby Championship and South American ‘A’ Championship it is to mark a third test between the countries this year. Brazil won the first and Chile the second. This in itself sets up an enthralling match between the teams. The venue is also yet to be finalized.

Brazil’s final fixture will be away to Romania. The June 24th fixture will be the first ever between the countries and a rare opportunity for Brazil to face a Tier 2 country from outside of the Americas. The match will take place in Bucharest.

The previously confirmed home match against the Cook Islands has been cancelled. The Cook Islands were to tour Brazil and Mexico but are now to not play outside of Oceania. Also called-off is Belgium’s match against Brazil.

Before June Os Tupis have remaining matches in the South American ‘A’ Championship. Brazil face Uruguay today and are to host Paraguay on Saturday May 27. Wins in both matches are required to stand a chance of advancing in Rugby World Cup qualifiers.
