Americas Weekend Guide: Pro D2 Final

Just one match remains in the Pro D2 this season. Former Top 14 sides Agen and Montauban face-off in the 2017 Final in Bordeaux. The prize for the winner is ultimate – promotion to the Top 14 for the 2017-2018 season.

Both teams have players associated with rugby in the Americas. Starting for Agen on the left wing will be Taylor Paris. The Canadian flier will be making his final appearance for the club before departing for Castres. He is a direct replacement for Horacio Agulla who has returned to Argentina after ten years in Europe.

Also involved for Agen will be Dave Ryan. The uncapped prop remains eligible for the USA. He is to wear the number 23 shirt for Agen. His opposite is to be Victor Damian Arias. Also uncapped, Arias has prior experience playing for what is now the Argentina XV.

The winner of the Pro D2 final will join Oyonnax in next season’s Top 14. Oyonnax won the right back to the elite competition by finishing top of the table at the end of the regular season. The two returning sides to the Top 14 will trade places with Bayonne and Grenoble who were both relegated for finishing 14th and 13th respectively.
