After 10 Years in Europe Horacio Agulla Returns to Hindú

After 10 years of playing in Europe Horacio Agulla returns to Hindú. The 32-year-old winger announced his departure from France following Castres’ barrage defeat to Toulon on Friday evening.

Agulla began his professional career following Rugby World Cup 2007. He was included in the squad and went on to be the starting left winger against France, Ireland, Namibia, Scotland and South Africa.

He had debuted in 2005 in an end-of-year home international against Samoa. In 2006 he earned a start against Italy after having featured from the bench in the historic win over England in London. With José Maria Nunez Piossek forced out of the World Cup through injury Agulla was propelled to the top.

The then Top 14 side, Dax signed Agulla for the 2007-2008 season. From there he moved to Brive where he played for two seasons. Next up was two seasons at the Leicester Tigers, followed by four for rivals Bath. For the Tigers he started in the 2011 and 2012 Aviva Premiership Finals.

His professional career came to a close last night. He joined Castres on a one-year-deal for the 2016-2017 season. Now he is to return to where it all began, Don Torcuato in Greater Buenos Aires. In doing so he follows Santiago Fernández. The Rugby World Cup 2011 fly half recently completed his career in France.

Both Agulla and Fernández are still young enough to potentially feature for Los Jaguares and Los Pumas. For Los Pumas Agulla has 63 caps. These include 14 in Rugby World Cups.
