Pro D2 Final Guarantees More Americas Players in Top 14

This season’s Pro D2 final guarantees that there will be more Americas players in the Top 14. Coming up on May 21 Montauban and Agen will contest France’s second division final. The winner of the final will join Oyonnax in earning promotion to the Top 14. They will replace Grenoble and Bayonne.

Montauban were the first to qualify. The south-west French club defeated Mont de Marsan 24-13. In doing so it ended the season for Uruguay’s Agustín Ormaechea and Mont de Marsan’s Argentine contingent. Ormeachea was the starting scrum half while Carlos Muzzio played Loose head prop. Jerónimo Negrotto was a try scorer from the bench for Mont de Marsan while Victor Damian Arias was a replacement for the winners.

Agen overcame the soon-to-be Gonzalo Quesada controlled Biarritz, winning 26-14. Canadian flier Taylor Paris played on the left wing for Agen and the USA eligible Dave Ryan was a replacement. Involved for Biarritz was Leandro Mario Assi.

Paris will play for Castres next season. His departure coincides with the arrival of three Argentine players. Ignacio Mieres joins from Dax, Facundo Bosch from Los Jaguares and Leandro Cedaro from La Rochelle. Cedaro is capped by Italy. Former Puma Maurcio Reggiardo coaches Agen.
