Ostberg extends stay in France

US Eagles prospect Christian Ostberg will be staying in France until at least 2020 after signing a three-year contract extension with Aurillac. He originally joined the Cantalian club on a two-year deal ahead of the 2015-16 season. Aurillac finished mid-table in the Pro D2 this season, coming in 8th and missing out on the promotion playoffs by 11 points.

Ostberg, 22, is yet to win his first Eagles cap but represented the Junior All-Americans in 2013 and was part of the USA Select XV who traveled to Uruguay for the Americas Pacific Challenge this past October. Standing 1.98m (6’6″) his height has seen him used mostly at lock though he made his first Pro D2 start against Charente in November as a blindside flanker. The Round Rock, Texas, native saw his season disrupted by injuries this year but is expected to play a significant role with the club next season.
