Baillie signs for London Scottish

Kyle Baillie has signed a contract with London Scottish for the 2017-18 Greene King IPA Championship season. The length of the deal has not been revealed by the club but is believed to be for one year. Scottish play their rugby out of the Athletic Ground, a venue they share with fellow Championship club Richmond located approximately 15km west of London city centre.

A native of Summerside, PEI, Baillie is currently in New Zealand to prepare for Canada’s World Cup qualifying series in June, continuing a globe-trotting couple of years that has seen him suit up for Eastern Suburbs in Sydney, Australia, as well the Halifax Tars, Atlantic Rock, and PRO Rugby’s Ohio Aviators. In January he appeared in one match for Aviva Premiership club Saracens on a trial but suffered an untimely shoulder injury and missed out on a potential contract.

The 26-year-old lock or blindside flanker has won eight caps for Canada since making his test debut in the 2016 Americas Rugby Championship. He was a nominee for 2016 Senior Men’s Player of the Year and has emerged as a contender for a starting position in the World Cup qualifiers against the US Eagles in June.

London Scottish finished the 2016-17 Championship season in 8th place. The Exiles have previously been a home for Canadian internationals Evan Olmstead, Tyler Hotson, and Adam Kleeberger.
