Toulouse have paid homage to Patricio Albacete. After 11 years in the southern French club the Argentine second-row has played his final match. It marks not only the end of an era but the end of a truly phenomenal career.
Wearing Toulouse colors, Albacete did it all. He is a three-time winner of the Top 14 and also a Heineken Cup (now Champions Cup) champion. Over the years he was Toulouse’s regular starting number 5. He made well over 200 appearances. He departs the club aged 35.
Albacete has said on social media that he is considering his options. Either retirement or moving to play for a rival club being the possibilities. Before then ‘Pato’ will play for the Barbarians against England later this month.
