Zaruba returns for Paris 7s

Adam Zaruba returns to the Canadian lineup for the Paris 7s after missing out on the Asian leg of the HSBC Sevens Series. The powerhouse winger replaces Josiah Morra in the only change to the squad that claimed an historic first by lifting the Cup in Singapore. Nathan Hirayama will assume the captaincy, continuing a rotating policy that has seen both Harry Jones and regular skipper John Moonlight leading the side in previous tournaments.

For the first time ever Canada enter a tournament as the top seeds, headlining Pool A with South Africa, Scotland, and Japan their opponents in the pool stages. Canada’s outstanding form has seen them rocket up the rankings to 7th place overall. With Australia a full 18 points ahead in 6th, it’s unlikely that Canada will be able to move up but their current standing would still represent a significant leap up from their 13th overall placing during the 2015-16 Series.

The two-day tournament kicks off on Saturday. All games will be streamed live by World Rugby.
