Turks & Caicos Seal Victory over Dominican Republic

Test rugby returned to the Americas this weekend. Taking to the field in a sanctioned test match were neighboring countries the Turks & Caicos Islands and the Dominican Republic.

Played at Meridian Field in Grace Bay Village, the Turks & Caicos Islands completed a 24-15 win. It was the opening match of the year for the home side and ensured points will be gained in the Americas Rankings.

The Dominican Republic were making their second appearance. There first was a recent win over Curaçao. Having won that day the Dominican Republic gained points and places in the Americas Rankings.

The fixture was the first of three in this year’s edition of the North Cup, a lower tier category of the Rugby Americas North Championship. The Dominican Republic and Turks & Caicos Islands are joined by the Bahamas in their section. The Bahamas will play host to Turks & Caicos Islands in the next fixture.
