The month of May will see a lot of test rugby played in the Americas. The first game of the month took place on Saturday with Turks & Caicos Islands playing host to the Dominican Republic. The home side’s 24-15 victory sees changes for both in the Americas Rankings.
The teams entered the match ranked 21st and 22nd respectively in the Americas. Having defeated Curaçao recently, the Dominican Republic went into the match as the higher ranked of the two. The match result, though, sees the Turks & Caicos Islands now having 32.06 points and the Dominican Republic 30.86.
For the Dominican Republic it represents a two place fall in the rankings. The country has dropped below both the Turks & Caicos Islands and Guatemala. Turks & Caicos rise one spot to edge towards the Bahamas.
The updated rankings add spice to coming matches. On May 2o Turks & Caicos are to play away to the Bahamas. Before then there are to be additional matches in the region. On May 13 Bermuda have home advantage against Mexico and Barbados play take on Guyana.
Further south the Rugby World Cup 2019 qualifiers are to get underway on May 13 in South America. Chile will play host to Brazil and Paraguay host Uruguay. Both matches double for the South American A Championship.
