Albacete to Play for Barbarians

Patricio Albacete is to play for the Barbarians. The 36-year-old Toulouse second-rower is the second of two Pumas named for upcoming actitivty. He joins Lyon No 8 Facundo Isa.

The Barbarians are to play matches against England and Ulster. The fixtures will take place on May 28 and June 01 respectively.

Capped 57 times for Argentina, Albacete’s test career ended prematurely following off-field troubles with Head Coach Daniel Hourcade. He was a permanent starter for Los Pumas from 2003-2013 and played in three Rugby World Cups.

The current season is his final one at Toulouse. He joined the Top 14 club from Pau in 2006. His move to Toulouse resulted in multiple titles. They include winning the Top 14 in 2008, 2011 and 2012 and the European Champions Cup in 2010.

For Argentina he was a part of the historic team that defeated France in Marseilles in 2004 and England in London in 2006. Such accomplishments saw him regarded as among the best second–rowers in the world. This increased at Rugby World Cup 2007 and beyond.
