Impact from Chris Wyles contributed to Saracens conquering Dublin on Saturday. The London-based Aviva Premiership side defeated southern Irish province, Munster 26-10 in the first of two Semi Finals.
Wyles was a replacement for Saracens. He came off the bench to score the second of two Saracens’ tries. In doing so he gave the Aviva Premiership side a 23-3 lead in the 70th minute.
The former USA Eagles captain joined Marcelo Bosch in the team. Bosch put in an outstanding performance from outside center. Also involved was Eagles prop, Titi Lamositele. Like Wyles, he was a replacement.
In defeating Munster, Saracens booked their place in the 2017 Champions Cup Final. The fixture will be played at the home of Scottish rugby in Edinburgh. The opposition is to be either Clermont or Leinster.
The effort required serious commitment. At the half way stage it was anybodies game. Saracens were up against a vocal Irish crowd. Indeed, despite being playing in Leinster not Munster there was little question as to whom had the backing of those in attendance.
Could Wyles come out of international retirement to face Canada? The USA and Canada will play home-and-away in Rugby World Cup qualification in June. The winner, on aggregate, will qualify directly for Japan 2019 as Americas 1. The USA has improved sufficiently to now be favorites for the spot.
