The Dominican Republic Defeat Curaçao

The Dominican Republic defeated Curaçao on Saturday. The 32-17 win sees the Dominican Republic retaining the Copa de Rugby Dominico-Curazaleña, the international trophy established for matches between the two countries.

The Dominican Republic outscored Curaçao by six tries to three. Additional scoring game from one Dominican Republic conversion and also one from Curaçao.

The Caribbean international match was the first of 2017 for both countries. It was played at the Centro Olímpico Juan Pablo Duarte in the Dominican Republic.

In 2016 the Dominican Republic also won the Copa de Rugby Dominico-Curazaleña. On that occasion they did so by a scoreline of 32-12.

Both the Dominican Republic and Curaçao are developing unions in the region. Curaçao have Rugby Americas North membership while the Dominican Republic has affiliate status.
