Americas Weekend Guide: Challenge Cup Semi Finals

Only four teams remain in the Challenge Cup. This weekend will cut the number to two. Battling it out for glory will be two teams from France at home against two visitors from England. Involved in both Semi Finals are to be players from the Americas.

On Saturday La Rochelle will have home advantage against Gloucester. In years goner by Gloucester’s Kingsholm has been among the most daunting of all venue for visiting teams. This season the Stade Marcel Deflandre in La Rochelle is undoubtedly more so. La Rochelle have simply been giant killers in the Top 14.

The home side are to have Argentine second-rower Leandro Cedaro in their side. The Italian-capped forward has been named on the bench. Gloucester, meanwhile, are to have Rugby World Cup 2015 Puma, Mariano Galarza on their bench, also covering second-row.

On Sunday Stade Français welcome Bath to the Stade Jean Bouin. The Parisians fielded a depleted lineup on Wednesday for their Top 14 match against Castres. This enabled the club to rest stars. They are to all take to the field against Bath. Argentine-Italian Sergio Parisse will start at No 8.
