Canadian internationals Brett Beukeboom and Matt Evans have signed new deals to stay at Cornish Pirates. While the length of the contracts have not been disclosed, their previous deals were for two years. Pirates are currently in sixth spot in the Greene King IPA Championship with one game remaining, but have not qualified for the playoffs.
The 2017-18 season will be the seventh for Evans with Pirates, who he joined from Newport Gwent Dragons following the 2011 World Cup. He now sits two games short of 100 appearances for the club and has been vice-captain since 2014. A serious knee injury suffered in December ended his campaign early though he is targeting a return to action ahead of the new season.
Beukeboom signed for Pirates in 2015 from Plymouth Albion and has since made 42 appearances in his two seasons, becoming a staple in the Pirates second row. He will play the final league game for the club this weekend before returning to prepare for the June international series with Canada.
