Brazil Unveil New Main Sponsor

Brazil has unveiled a new main sponsor. Hotel chain, Accor Hotels has agreed to a two year contract with the CBRu. The arrangement has the possibility of being extended for an additional two years.

The agreement will see AccorHotels supporting Brazil Rugby during the 2017-2020 Olympic period. Having had both men’s and women’s teams at the 2016 Olympic Games, Brazil now aims to do so again for Tokyo 2020.

The announcement came together with the 7th edition of the Troféu Brasil Rugby, Brazil’s annual rugby awards night. Recognizing excellence across 18 categories the following were the official winners:

Junior Player of the Year – Men’s : Matheus Augusto (Jacareí);

Junior Player of the Year – Women’s: Milena Mariano (São José);

Player of the Year – Senior Men’s: Yan Mota Rosetti (CUBA);

Player of the Year – Men’s Rugby 7’s: Moisés Duque (São José);

Player of the Year – Women’s Rugby 7’s: Amanda Araújo (Niterói);

Coach of the Year: Arnu Southey (Curitiba);

Rugby 7’s Coach of the Year: Júlio Faria (Jacareí);

Fair Play Men’s Club Award: Desterro;

Fair Play Women’s Club Award: Melina Rugby;

Featured Referee: Ricardo Sant’Anna;

Best Specialized Media: Portal do Rugby;

Women’s Revelation of the Year: Leila Santos (SPAC / Leoas);

Men’s Revelation of the Year: Andre Arruda (Desterro);

Supporter of the Year of Brazilian Rugby: Pacaembu and Rede TV!;

Benefactor of the Year: Michel Leplus (Melina Rugby);

Best Broadcaster: Rede TV!

Volunteer of the Year: Rafael Bomtempo
