Larrague Joins Jaguares for the Injured Alemanno

Ignacio Larrague is on his way to join Los Jaguares for the injured Matías Alemanno. The 21-year-old is departing Buenos Aires today to join the team in Pretoria ahead of this weekend’s Super Rugby match against the Bulls.

Alemanno suffered a shoulder injury in Saturday’s defeat against the Sharks. Having been evaluate is has been deemed unfit and and is returning to Buenos Aires. As such Marcos Kremer and Guido Petti are the only available specialist second-rowers. Larrague joins them to have a back-up, and bench, option.

Larrague will join the team on Wednesday. He is doing so after having a superb campaign with the Argentina XV. The CASI second-rower was a stand-out player in the Americas Rugby Championship.

He remains uncapped at senior level but is expected to make the step-up this year. Also expected back to fitness shortly for Los Jaguares is Tomás Lavanini. He is back training now and likely to play in the home matches later this month. Larrague now has a prime opportunity to receive game time while Alemanno is sidelined.
