Juan Imhoff scored a vital try for Racing 92 who downed Pau this afternoon. The Argentine left wing touched down for a first half try as Racing 92 went on to win 34-32. Imhoff’s try would be the second of four in the match.
The try was Imhoff’s 10th in the Top 14 this season. It makes him the second highest try scorer behind Stade Français’ Nayacalevu Waisei. The next best scorer from the Americas is Patricio Fernández with five.
Imhoff’s scoring rate has been so impressive that he is well above Rugby World Cup stars Nemani Nadolo, Bryan Habana and Adam Ashley-Cooper. They have scored 6, 5 and 6 Top 14 tries respectively this season. French international Noa Nakaitaci is also behind Imhoff with 8. The leading French scorer is the uncapped Gabriel Lacroix who matches Imhoff with 10.
Imhoff has one more season on his contract. Should he return home to Argentina upon completion he would be eligible for Los Pumas in June 2018. Under current policies he cannot be considered for international duty.
