USA Rugby has announced a multi-year partnership with world-renowned sports apparel company Adidas. The deal will see Adidas provide training and competition kit for all USA representatives sides, both in XVs and 7s. Age grade and Collegiate All-American sides are also included in the deal. The exact length of the agreement has not been specified.
The Women’s XVs side debuted their new kit in last week’s Can-Am Series in Chula Vista, while the Men’s 7s will wear new Adidas kit in Hong Kong this coming weekend. Custom jerseys will be designed specifically for the Women’s World Cup this coming August.
Adidas replaces BLK as USA Rugby kit providers. The Australian-based company was placed in receivership in November and were unable to continue their sponsorship.
This is not the first time that Adidas has paired with USA Rugby, having most notably created the USA jerseys for the 1999 Rugby World Cup. Other international sides currently partnered with Adidas included France, Italy, New Zealand, Portugal, the Czech Republic, and most recently Germany. A number of club sides including all five New Zealand-based Super Rugby franchises also wear Adidas kit.
The new kit will be available for purchase at World Rugby Shop in May.
