Argentine Fly Half Back to Fitness for Clermont

Encouraging news from France is that an Argentine fly half is back to fitness for Clermont. Patricio Fernández is ready to return to the playing field and is expected to do so this weekend for Clermont’s Champions Cup Quarter Final.

The Central French side have home advantage against Toulon on Sunday. The all-French match-up guarantees that at least one club in the final four will be French. An appearance for Fernández would be his first of 2017. He was injured playing against Toulouse on December 31.

Fernández is under contract with Clermont until 2020. Unless UAR policies change he will not add to his two caps. In order to play in Rugby World Cup 2019 Fernández would need to end his contract early and return him for the 2019 Super Rugby season. Facundo Isa and Juan Imhoff are reportedly going to do so.
