Video: Opening Minute Isa Try Sets Up Big Lyon Win Over Bayonne

An opening minute try from Facundo Isa set up a big Lyon win over Bayonne on Saturday. In what was the first try from the Argentine player in Lyon colors, it would be the first of seven tries. Bayonne would only manage one as they crashed to a 52-7 hammering.

The result sees Bayonne hanging on narrowly. The club sits in bottom spot of the Top 14 and has few opportunities remaining to climb up sufficiently to avoid relegation. For Lyon the result means the club is thirteen points clear of relegation.

Not only is Lyon seemingly safe to continue in the Top 14 but the club is now just one point behind Toulouse and two behind 2016 champions Racing 92. One point above Racing 92 is Bordeaux, the club currently occupying 7th position. The number 7 is magic as it is the prospective spot to qualify for the European Champions Cup.

Lon can now target 6th spot, and in doing so a place in barrage. Pau is presently in 6th position but is well within Lyon’s reach on 52 competition points. Castres is 5th but also has 52 points while Toulon occupy 4th spot on 53 points.
