Wooching invited to Eagles training for Hong Kong 7s

Former Washington Huskies linebacker Psalm Wooching has been invited to train with the Eagles ahead of the Hong Kong Sevens. He is one of a handful of extras called in to be assessed by head coach Mike Friday ahead of the esteemed HSBC Sevens Series stop. Since declaring his intention to forego the NFL draft and concentrate fully on rugby, Wooching has been lining up on the wing for Seattle Saracens while also playing for their sevens side. At 6’4″ (1.93m) and 230lbs (105kg), the athletic Hawaiian could fill a number of roles for the Eagles.

Also called into training is Americas Rugby Championship standout Mike Te’o, who has previously spent time on the HSBC circuit from 2012-2014. He is joined by a pair of Old Blue players, flanker Alex Schwarz and ARC winger Ryan Matyas. Another former ARC selection, Olympic openside Alec Gletzer, returns to contention after appearing in both the Dubai and Cape Town tournaments to start the season. Kansas City Blues forward Walt Elder remains with the group after making his debut as a late call-up in Las Vegas.

The Hong Kong Sevens kicks off on Friday, April 7. Argentina, Scotland, and Russia have been drawn alongside the USA in Pool D. The Eagles are currently in 5th spot on the overall season standings after taking home Bronze in Las Vegas and finishing 4th in Vancouver.
