Quade Cooper Set to Miss Jaguares Clash

Quade Cooper is set to miss the Jaguares Clash next weekend. The Queensland Reds fly half was red carded for a dangerous tackle in Saturday’s Super Rugby match against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Coaches from both sides shared their point of view, suggesting that referees are under strict order to red card such offenses. While they admit it is just to do so both sides heavily implied that the player-safety tackle policies are inappropriate.

Cooper’s tackle took place early in the second half. He has been cited by SANZAAR for breaching law 10.4 and will declare to them today.

A similar offense against the Lions in round three saw Nicolás Sánchez suspended. The Jaguares fly half missed Saturday’s match against the Cheetahs as a result. Sánchez will be free to face the Reds next weekend. Cooper is likely to miss out.
