Poli Defeat Niterói to Qualify for 2017 Super 8

On Saturday Poli defeated Niterói to qualify for the 2017 Super 8, Brazil’s premier club competition. The 32-3 hammering saw history being made. For the first time ever a second division side won repechage. It sees the São Paulo club back in Brazil’s elite the first time since 1994.

The 2017 Super 8 is expected to get underway in July. Competing are to be Curitiba, Desterro, Jacareí, Farrapos, Pasteur, Poli, São José and SPAC. Curitiba are the reigning champions having downed Florianopolis club Desterro in the 2016 final.
