Seymour Starts In Vital Match Against England

Tommy Seymour has been named to start Saturday’s vital match against England. The Tennessee native will run-out for his mother’s country, playing on the right wing.

Scotland coach Vern Cotter has retained fourteen of the fifteen players who started in the round three win over Wales. The one alteration sees Hamish Watson named ahead of New Zealanders John Hardie who is out through injury.

Coming into the side will be Cornell Du Preez. The South African fills the vacancy on the bench. Should he receive game time Du Preez will earn his first test cap.

Saturday’s match is to be played at Twickenham, a place in which Scotland has not won at since 1983. A win for England would give them 18 wins in-a-row. It is the same number that New Zealand achieved before falling to Ireland last November in Chicago. The mark was incorrectly named as a world record. The real record number is 24 held by Cyprus.

Scotland enter the match ranked 5th in the world. This is on the back of consecutive home wins over Argentina, Georgia, Ireland and Wales. It has secured the Scots a safe ranking ahead of the Rugby World Cup 2019 draw.

Argentina remain in 9th and require results to see either France or Wales fall below them. Should the Irish win this weekend in Cardiff then Argentina will be safe. The loser of France vs Wales in Paris the following weekend would officially be 9th.
