Chris LeFevre pens open letter to Rugby Canada

Former IRB Executive Council and Rugby Canada board member Chris LeFevre has written an open letter directed at current Rugby Canada Chairman Tim Powers. While coming in the wake of the poor results during the Americas Rugby Championship, the letter is heavily critical of the management and direction of Rugby Canada and calls for immediate action.

“Clearly the administration has failed to have an adequate strategy to position Canada in the modern rugby world. As a matter of record I tirelessly laboured year in and year out at the Rugby Canada boardroom table advising of the need for a paradigm shift in order to maintain standing in the modern era. This was largely ignored and the preoccupation became lost in the discussion of sevens or governance issues.

“We failed in our Men’s Olympic Sevens ambition and knowledgeable rugby men know only too well that sevens has yet to create a penny for the coffers of World Rugby, and more specifically RWC (XV’s) remains the marquee prize for funding and financing of the world game.”

Mr. LeFevre has given ARN permission to publish the letter in its entirety, which can be seen below.
