Men’s Eagles into Las Vegas Semis

A dramatic come-from-behind victory over Argentina the Cup Quarter Finals of the Las Vegas 7s have seen the home town favorites USA qualify for the Cup Semis on Day Three. Trailing 19-0 just moments into the second half, Maka Unufe sparked a remarkable comeback by scoring two of his own and creating another for Perry Baker to escape from the clutches of Los Pumas and earn a rematch with England in the Semis.

Earlier on Day Two the English had themselves completed an unlikely comeback, scoring three times in the final two minutes of play to come away 24-17 winners over their hosts. They would eventually fall to New Zealand in the Cup Quarter Finals.

Argentina started off the day with a wonderful result as they defeated New Zealand by a 12-10 score to close out pool play. The disappointing collapse against the USA sees their first match on Day Three against Australia in the 5th Place Semi Final.

On the other side of that draw will be Canada, who are set to face England. The Canadians were delighted by their final pool result, a 21-0 shutout over France. While the Quarter Final match against Fiji was competitive, ultimately the audacious offloading game of the Olympic champions was too much for Canada to handle so early in their revival.

The stage is now set for Day Three with the USA set to do battle with South AFrica and Fiji paired with New Zealand in the Cup Semi Finals. All matches will be streamed live by World Rugby.
