2017 Las Vegas 7’s: Argentina vs New Zealand – Full Match

Argentina defeated New Zealand 12-10 in the 2017 Las Vegas 7’s earlier today. The result sees Los Pumas 7’s finishing in top spot of Pool C. The win was the one match from today. Yesterday the South Americans defeated Russia 43-0 and competed to a 14-14 draw with Kenya.

The fixture against New Zealand determined the pool results. Los Pumas 7’s started strongly. Back from playing for the Argentina XV, Fernando Luna crossed for an early try. It was converted by captain Gastón Revol.

Three minutes later Nicolás Menéndez increased Los Pumas 7’s advantage. With the conversion attempt unsuccessful Argentina went 12-0 ahead. The South Americans would be unable to score again in the match.

In the second half New Zealand enjoyed the better of play. Veteran DJ Forbes got them on the board with a try to make it a seven point ball game. With time up the All Blacks 7’s added a second with Isaac Te Tamaki going over. But off-target goal kicking from the New Zealanders meant Los Pumas 7’s were able to win the match and advance into the Final 8.
