Montauban suffered a major blow to their promotion hopes by losing to Agen by 22-18 at home on Thursday evening. Damian Arias started at tighthead prop for Montauban. Agen now have a slender three point lead on top of the league table but there are still seven games to be played yet before the numbers can be completely revised.
Friday will have the big matches. Dax hosting Béziers is not one of them, with both sides evenly matched but neither promotion contenders nor concerned with relegation. Martin Chiappesoni will start on the flank for the home side.
Colomiers will look for to steal a win on the road at Carcassonne with Agustĺn Costa Repetto and Demián Panizzo in their tight five. Nicolás Mirande starts at tighthead prop for lowly Bourgoin as they travel to Biarritz. Vannes will hand a start at flyhalf to Bautista Güemes as they face Carlos Muzzio, reserve prop this week, and Mont-de-Marsan.
A strangely compelling match takes place in Angoulême where Oyonnax will be desperate to get a road win over Charente. Jamie Cudmore will be on the bench for the visitors while the home side feature Sebastián Poet at flyhalf and Facundo Panceyra Garrido among the reserves.
