Uruguay host Chile in a final round Americas Rugby Championship match on Saturday. The URU is busy promoting the fixture using slogans, in Spanish, including Let’s Fill the Estadio Charrúa.
Fresh off a first win over Canada in fifteen years Los Teros are eyeing-up a third place finish. Having lost away to the USA and Argentina XV in the opening two rounds, Uruguay hit-back to defeat Brazil and Canada.
Results have Uruguay in third place. With 10 points, Uruguay have three more than Canada but cannot catch either the Argentina XV or USA. Those two sides meet in Comodoro Rivadavia, Patagonia on Saturday. The winner will be the 2017 Americas Champion.
Canada places away to Brazil this weekend. The Friday night fixture will be played in São Paulo. Should Canada win then Uruguay will also be required to defeat Chile if it is to claim third spot. The match against Chile will be on Saturday.
The URU is promoting the fixture as the latest edition of the Clásico Sudamericano (South American Classic). Kick-off is scheduled for 3:10pm local time.
Tickets for the fixture are $200 Uruguayan pesos for men. Women and children under 15 have free admission. Tickets can be bought from the URU offices at the stadium from Wednesday – Friday. On match day they will be available at the ticket office at the stadium itself.
