Americas Weekend Guide – RFU Championship Week 17

Things couldn’t get much quieter in the Greene King IPA Championship. Only a handful of Americas players will suit up over the weekend including just two starters. Doncaster has a bye, Brett Beukeboom has shipped off to South America to play for Canada, and others will watch from the sidelines.

Bedford Blues host Ealing Trailfinders at Goldington Road on Saturday. Justin Blanchet will wait his turn on the bench for the Blues, while Ignacio Sáenz Lancuba will do the same for Trailfinders.

Ronnie McLean continues in his established position of inside center for Richmond against Nottingham. With Richmond at home and Nottingham struggling all season this should be considered a winnable match for the part-timers.

Sunday’s match will have two Argentines involved. Nicolás de Battista is the only Americas player in the Cornish Pirates lineup this week. On the other side will be Santiago Socino, though the Rotherham hooker will have to settle for a reserve role.
