Same again for Uruguay against Canada

Uruguay will field virtually an identical side to the one that beat Brazil in Maldonado on Saturday. Head coach Esteben Meneses has opted for only minor tinkering, with two changes to the run-on side for the crucial Americas Rugby Championship test against Canada.

A minor surprise sees Juan Echeverria preferred to veteran Mario Sagario at tighthead prop, with the two essentially splitting time against Brazil. Gonzalo Soto is replaced on the blindside flank by World Cup veteran Franco Lamanna, adding experience to a pack that dominated the Brazilians.

The backs are identical with the only further alterations coming on the bench. Diego Magno could draw level with all-time leading cap winner Rodrigo Sánchez if the veteran takes the field. Magno replaces rookie Lorenzo Surraco as second row cover. Meneses has also returned to a traditional five-three split on the bench, recalling Gastón Mieres to the side with the World Cup fullback now fully recovered from shoulder surgery.
