Boffelli called up by Argentina XV

Jaguares standout Emiliano Boffelli has been called up to the Argentina XV squad to prepare for the Americas Rugby Championship match against Brazil on Saturday. The highly rated outside back has not played a competitive match since damaging knee ligaments against the Southern Kings in May of last year. Prior to his injury Boffelli was in fine form for the Jaguares, starting 10 matches and considered by many to be capped by the Pumas. He has yet to make his test debut.

Also called up from the Jaguares squad are loosehead prop Facundo Gigena and utility back Segundo Tuculet. The latter appeared the matches against Canada and Uruguay. This will be Gigena’s first ARC appearance of 2017. Returning to the squad this week are hooker Gaspar Baldunciel, tighthead prop Santiago Medrano, back row Tomás de la Vega, and winger Franco Cuaranta.

Dropping out are hooker Axel Zapata, props Nicolas Solveyra and Francisco Ferronato, and midfielder Bruno Devoto. Francisco Gorrissen has been ruled out with injury while Fernando Luna and Bautista Delguy have joined up with the Pumas 7s squad for the North American leg of the HSBC Sevens Series that begins next weekend.
